Terms of Service
Last updated: 10 September 2026
§ 1 Scope
These Terms of Service ("Terms") apply to the use of the lingr mobile application ("App") and the associated website lingr.online, as well as all related services (together, the "Service"), offered by Johannes Lenz, Auenstr. 68, 80469 München, Germany ("Provider").
§ 2 Conclusion of contract and registration
- Use of the Service requires registration. Upon registration, a usage contract is formed between you and the Provider.
- Registration is permitted only to natural persons who have reached the age of 18. By registering, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old and have full legal capacity.
- Only one account per person is permitted. Multiple registrations may lead to the suspension of all accounts.
§ 3 Description of services
lingr is a social-networking platform that allows users to create profiles, get in touch with other users, and organise and experience events together.
The Provider makes the technical platform available but does not guarantee that contacts, meetings or other interactions will come about. The Provider is not a broker within the meaning of a brokerage contract.
§ 3a Safety features, authenticity status and locations
Some features serve safety or orientation. What they do — and what they do not:
Safe-Meet is not an emergency service
With Safe-Meet you can let a trusted contact of your own choosing know that you are meeting someone. If you do not check back by the time you set, the platform releases the details you stored to that person and notifies them.
Safe-Meet does not replace an emergency call or an emergency service. The feature alerts neither the police nor an ambulance. It depends on circumstances the provider does not control: a working internet connection, delivery by the device manufacturer's push service, and your trusted contact noticing the notification and acting on it. Whether and how they react is entirely up to them. In an emergency, call 112 or your local emergency number.
You choose trusted contacts from your confirmed connections, at most three. The role has to be accepted and is locked while a Safe-Meet is running. If you pick a person other than the one you are meeting, their profile name becomes part of the entry; naming people abusively is prohibited under § 6.
The authenticity status is a user statement, not a verification
The authenticity status shows how many connected users have confirmed that a profile is real — ten per cent per confirmation, 100 per cent from ten confirmations on. These are statements by other users, not an identity check by the provider. A high status is no proof of a person's identity, intentions or behaviour, and no substitute for your own caution. Confirmations can be withdrawn at any time, so the value can drop. Confirmations in exchange for anything, or for profiles you do not know, are prohibited.
Check-in and presence
Checking in at a location or an event is voluntary. It makes you visible to other users checked in at the same time and is only possible near the place. Presence expires by itself; the entry is deleted after 48 hours. The provider does not guarantee that displayed presences are current or complete.
Locations are curated third-party information
Details about locations — address, category, opening hours — come from public sources and from user reports. The provider checks them with reasonable care but cannot warrant their accuracy, completeness or currency; nor the operation of, access to, or what happens at those places. You can report wrong details in the app. Listing a location is not a recommendation and creates no relationship between the provider and the business.
Watermarks and disappearing content
You can add a lingr watermark to photos, make them viewable once, or share them with a time limit; location shares in the chat expire. These features make passing content on harder, they do not prevent it: recipients can take screenshots or photograph content off the screen. The app flags a screenshot taken in a chat as far as the operating system permits. Only share what you could live with being passed on.
Blurred map for private events
For private events the map point is deliberately shifted before you are accepted; you receive the exact address only once the host accepts you. The provider does not guarantee that a host gives accurate information about the place, the course of the event or house rules.
§ 4 User obligations
You undertake to:
- provide only truthful information in your profile (in particular regarding age, identity and your own photos),
- on a couple profile, guarantee that the second person is of age, knows about the profile and agrees to the details about them — you enter them, so you answer for them,
- not impersonate another person, not use other people's photos or identities, and not create a misleading profile ("catfishing"),
- keep your login credentials secret and not grant access to third parties,
- not post any content that violates applicable law or the rights of third parties — in particular no insults, hate speech, pornographic, violence-glorifying or child-protection-violating content,
- not share, forward, photograph or publish intimate or identifying content of other people without their explicit consent (no "outing", no non-consensual imagery),
- not harass, threaten, coerce, extort or stalk other users,
- not use the App for commercial purposes (advertising, solicitation, arranging sex work),
- not perform automated access (bots, scrapers) on the Service.
§ 5 Content and licence
You retain all rights to the content you post (photos, texts). However, you grant the Provider the simple, worldwide, royalty-free right to store, reproduce, display and make your content available to other users — to the extent necessary to provide the Service.
§ 6 Zero tolerance for harmful behaviour
In accordance with App Store Review Guideline 1.2, we enforce the following minimum standards:
- Reporting: every profile and every piece of content can be reported ("⋯" menu → "Report profile").
- Blocking: every user can block other users.
- Moderation: reported content is reviewed within 24 hours. Violations result in a warning or immediate suspension.
- Filtering: uploaded images pass through automatic moderation checks before publication.
§ 7 Suspension and termination
In the event of violations of these Terms, the Provider is entitled to suspend and/or delete your account temporarily or permanently. You yourself can end the contract at any time without notice by deleting your account in the App or at /en/account-loeschen.
If you consider a suspension or a moderation decision to be unjustified, you can appeal within 14 days by email to support@lingr.online. We will review the case again and inform you of the result.
§ 8 Liability
The Provider is liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, as well as under the German Product Liability Act. For slight negligence, the Provider is liable only for breach of essential contractual obligations and limited to the foreseeable damage typical of the contract.
The Provider is not liable for content posted by users or for damage caused by the conduct of other users.
§ 9 Changes to these Terms
The Provider reserves the right to amend these Terms. Material changes will be communicated with reasonable notice by email or in-app notification. If you do not object to the changes within 30 days, they are deemed accepted.
§ 10 Final provisions
German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. Consumer-protection provisions of the state in which you have your habitual residence remain unaffected.
Should individual provisions of these Terms be invalid, the validity of the remaining provisions remains unaffected.
